Dennis Keefe, M.A. – Registered Psychotherapist

I am a private practice registered psychotherapist serving clients in  Ontario, Canada. I am available to help adults presenting with a broad array of mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, relationships and life purpose. I also have a specialized focus of helping clients with chronic pain, chronic illness and disability. I am honoured to take part in the change process with anyone who is open to doing deep personal work.

Treatment Approach

I use a variety of approaches to address my clients unique needs.  I use the modalities that are most compelling to me so that I make sure I am practicing therapeutic techniques that I am most passionate about, most intellectually curious about and that I believe will make the most significant positive impact on my clients. This often includes a foundation of biopsychosocial, cognitive behavioural (cbt) acceptance and commitment therapy (act), dialectical behaviour (dbt), narrative, person-centred and schema therapy .Each treatment plan is tailored to facilitate sustained  growth beyond the regular therapy experience.

Additionally, there is a growing body of research that supports the practice of self-compassion and mindfulness in psychotherapy. Neuroscience research reveals individuals that practice these techniques are happier, more resilient, and better equipped to heal painful memories from the past. It is my honor and mission to help my clients move past what’s blocking them from reaching their full potential individually and in their relationships.

“The advice I’d give to somebody that’s silently struggling is, you don’t have to live that way. You don’t have to struggle in silence. You can be un-silent. You can live well with a mental health condition, as long as you open up to somebody about it, because it’s really important you share your experience with people so that you can get the help that you need.”
